3 Killed And Six Injured In The Drone Attack At Abu Dhabi Airport

Drone attack at Abu Dhabi

Three people were killed which included two Indian nationals and one Pakistani national and more than six were wounded in a drone attack. It blew up petrol tanks near a major oil storage facility in the United Arab Emirates capital Abu Dhabi.

The incident has created a sense of havoc in Abu Dhabi with tourists and residents scared for their lives.
The responsibility of the attack has been taken by Yemen’s Houthi rebels. These Iran-backed attackers are supposedly equipped with ‘kamikaze drones’ supplied by Tehran.

The statement of Arab officials and Police on the attack

Abu Dhabi police configured the explosion of three fuel tankers in the industrial Musaffah area which is near the storage facilities of oil firm ADNOC.

Further police inquired that fire also blazed at a construction site at Abu Dhabi International Airport.
Police of the United Arab Emirates identified two of the dead as Indian nationals and one of Pakistani nationality.
The police said in a statement on state news agency WAM.
“Initial investigations found parts of a small plane that could possibly be a drone at both sites that could have caused the explosion and the fire,”

What led to the drone attack at Abu Dhabi by Yemen?

Since early 2015, the UAE has been at war with Yemen.
Then, Houthis in late 2014 overthrew the internationally acknowledged government from the capital, Sanaa. This prompted the Saudi-led coalition to attack the Houthis for the invasion of the capital.

Following this Senior Houthi figure Mohamed al-Bukhaiti pledged that after the strike led by UAE and Saudi Arabi, there would be more attacks.

According to a report by the National Council of Resistance of Iran which has sources within the secretive state, the Islamic Republic’s armed forces export the killing machines to Syria, Iraq, Lebanon and Yemen.
