Entire Andhra Pradesh Cabinet Steps Down; CM Jagan Reddy Overhauls His Cabinet

Jagan Reddy had stated that he would replace his entire cabinet midway through his term. Thus the redesign was predicted. That was meant to happen in December 2021, but due to Covid, it has to be delayed.

The whole cabinet of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy stepped down today, paving the way for a major shake-up a little more than midway into his term, ahead of the state election in 2024.

After a cabinet meeting, twenty-four ministers decided to hand over their resignation letters, marking the first move toward the huge reshuffle.

The resignations were delivered to Jagan Reddy, the only cabinet member who stayed in place.

According to reports, only one or fewer officials from the outgoing cabinet are expected to be maintained. These officials will not be removed because they are the only representatives of politically important populations who require representation.

Several of the state’s recently founded 26 districts are likely to be represented in the new cabinet.

As of June 2019, when Jagan Reddy took over as Chief Minister, caste, region, religion, and gender would all be considered.

HOW WAS THE CABINET BEFORE?

Mr Reddy used to have five Deputy Chief Ministers, one from each of the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Backward Classes, Kapu caste, and Muslim minorities.

In the cabinet, there used to be three women. M Sucharita, a Dalit woman, was appointed as Home Minister. This design will almost certainly be duplicated.

The exiting ministers are expected to be assigned to party responsibilities, according to reports, because of their track record as politicians and public relations.

In Andhra Pradesh’s history, this is the second time the entire cabinet has resigned in a term.
