“World Sarcoidosis Awareness Day” is celebrated every year on April 13. The day puts emphasis on this inflammatory disease. The day also encourages people with diseases to support each other. The purple colour ribbon is quite popular for raising the awareness of sarcoidosis among people. 

 

History of “World Sarcoidosis Awareness Day”

In April 2008, the Foundation for Sarcoidosis Research announced April as the Sarcoidosis Awareness Month. In 2019, the organization launched “World Sarcoidosis Awareness Day” to aware people about this disease and hosted the first awareness day on April 13th, 2019.

Causes of Sarcoidosis

The scientists and experts still don’t know the causes of sarcoidosis. Meanwhile, some experts think that its causes are bacterias, viruses, chemicals or due to genes. The causes of disease may lead to an overreaction of your immune system. As a result, immune cells start forming a pattern of inflammation called granulomas.

Symptoms of Sarcoidosis

This day cheer up people who have this condition to support one another and educate them. On this day, people educate about living with sarcoidosis. People of 20 years to 40 years of age are the most likely affected. Although, it’s not chronic disease, sometimes it turn into heart or lung diseases. 

Some of the symptoms of this disease are fatigue nights, coughing, weight loss, fever, swollen lymph nodes. The symptoms depend upon the disease affects which part of the body. However, if the condition affects the eyes then symptoms are dryness, redness and pain. For some people, granulomas grow in lungs which causes shortness of breath.
