5 best movies and shows on Prime Video this weekend: Fairfax and Emergency – Amazon Adviser

Happy weekend! It’s time to check out all that is available to binge on Prime Video. A never-ending supply of choices is available to keep you entertained all weekend long. Below we have some fantastic recommendations for your weekend binge.

The Amazon Top 10 features lists look very similar to last week’s with great features like The Boys, Night Sky, the original Top Gun movie, Outer Range, Reacher, The Wilds, and more. Several of the titles on this list are Amazon Originals, which have been cranking out some stellar content.
There is much to look forward to in June as far as releases are concerned. June 1 saw many older movies released on the streamer as well as new films and series on Prime Video and the additional channels that are also available.

Fairfax (Season 2)
The adult animated comedy series Fairfax has released its second season this week. Created by Matt Hausfater, Aaron Buchsbaum, and Teddy Riley, this Prime Video original didn’t make fans wait long for the next season, as the first was released in October 2021.

This animated comedy follows four best friends, Dale, Derica, Benny and Truman, and their misadventures as 13-year-olds who want to become influencers on LA’s Fairfax Avenue and will stop at nothing until they reach their goal. It is the timeless story of trying to fit in as middle schoolers and the inevitable failures that come along with it.
The leading voice actors are Skyler Gisondo, Kiersey Clemons, Peter S. Kim, and Jaboukie Young-White, with guest voices including Yvette Nicole Brown, Pamela Adlon, Rob Delaney, John Leguizamo, Billy Porter, Ben Schwartz, JB Smoove, Dr. Phil and more.

Emergency (2022)
The comedy thriller, Emergency is an Amazon original feature directed by Carey Williams with the screenplay by KD Dávila. Based on Williams and  Dávila’s short film, this feature-length film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival this year.
Two best friends, Sean and Kenle, prepare themselves to complete the “Legendary Tour,” a quest to visit seven frat house parties in one night. They will be the first black men to complete the tour if they succeed. But, when they encounter a situation they could never have imagined, they must weigh the pros and cons of getting the police involved.
The film stars RJ Cyler, Donald Elise Watkins, Sebastian Chacon and Sabrina Carpenter.

Wheel of Time Season 1
Wheel of Time is a fantasy series that released its first season in 2021 and is based on a series of novels by Robert Jordan. The second season wrapped filming in May, but no release date has been set. This gives fans time for a rewatch of the first season or for those who have yet to watch plenty of time to get caught up.
This series is led by Rosamund Pike, who portrays Moiraine, who is part of the Aes Sedai, a powerful group of women with the ability to channel the One Power. She crossed paths with five village children, and together they embark on a journey full of magic, danger and intrigue.
The series also stars Daniel Henney, Zoë Robins. Madeleine Madden. Josha Stradowski, Marcus Rutherford, Barney Harris, Kate Fleetwood, Priyanka Bose, Hammed Animashaun, Sophie Okonedo, Kae Alexander and Fares Fares.

Sleepy Hollow (1999)
Tim Burton’s gothic supernatural film, Sleepy Hollow, is loosely based on Washington Irving’s short story The Legend of Sleepy Hollow from 1820.
Johnny Depp portrays Icabod Crane, a police constable sent from New York City to the village of Sleepy Hollow with the task of investigating three deaths in which the victims were decapitated. The villagers believe the legendary Headless Horseman to be responsible for the murders.
The film has an amazing cast consisting of Depp, Christina Ricci, Miranda Richardson, Michael Gambon, Casper Van Dien, Jeffrey Jones, Christopher Lee, Ian McDiarmid, Michael Gough, Christopher Walken and Alun Armstrong.

Yours, Mine & Ours (2005)
The 2005 version of Yours, Mine & Ours is a modern take on the original film from 1968 based on the 1965 book, Who Gets the Drumstick? by Helen Beardsley.
Admiral Frank Beardsley and his eight kids move back to his hometown, and he encounters an old flame Helen North, with ten kids. Their lifestyles are vastly different, but old sparks begin to fly, and they eventually move in together. Although the couple is pleased with the situation, their children aren’t thrilled and form a plot to break up the couple.
This one is a great family-friendly movie everyone can enjoy!
