Modi US visit: Top Indian artists to Perform at New York’s Madison Square Garden

For a special reception to be hosted by the Indian-Americans for PM Narendra Modi in New York on September 28, 2014, some of the leading starts will be performing.

The names include renowned playback singer Kavita Subramaniam, Indian-American pop sensation Anjali Ranadive and celebrated violinist L Subramaniam.

Anjali Ranadive, who is the daughter of Sacramento Kings owner Vivek Ranadive, will be singing the national anthem of America, while Kavita Subramaniam will be singing the Indian anthem.

This will be followed by a much awaited speech by PM Modi for the Indian Diaspora on September 28 at the extraordinary Madison Square Garden.

Renowned violinist L Subramaniam will be performing for the audience in presence of Modi, promising a gala event on offer.

The special reception for PM Narendra Modi is being organized by the Indian-American Community Foundation (IACF). Created in recent times, IACF aims at promoting cooperation between India and the United States and betterand advance the values of democracy.

The Indian-American Community Foundation had already announced that the event will be emceed by Miss America 2014 Nina Davuluri along with Hari Sreenivasan, the noted PBS NewsHour anchor.

All these have certainly created a lot of enthusiasm along with Modi’s presence at the event. A number of US lawmakers are expected to be in attendance, which may also include governors and city leaders.

A statement issued by IACF said that a special laser light show, various kinds of holograms of India’s historical luminaries will be offered before the speech by Indian PM. IACF spokesperson Anand Shah has also said in the statement that live folk dances will be presented before Modi takes on the dais.

A report in India Today reported that Shah was quoted by PTI on the same.

“Prime Minister Modi taking the stage along with dozens of America’s most important political leaders in front of tens of thousands of cheering supporters will demonstrate the potential of a relationship across border.

The time has come for the world’s most significant democracies – India and America – to join together on a platform of mutual respect and shared values,” he said.

There are over 18,000 free tickets on offer, and for accommodating those who could not attend the event, it will broadcasted live at the popular Crystal Tower of the Times Square. The entire event will be broadcasted with Real time English subtitles.

“The incredible demand to be a part of Indian American history in greeting Prime Minister Modi has pushed us to find more ways to let the community participate,” Shah was further quoted.

IACF is also working with other community organizers for offering viewing parties in their areas. Keeping the rush in mid-town Manhattan in mind, the local transportation has already announced special trains and buses, the India Today report further said.
