The Trial court judge John Michael D’Cunha had ordered all the accused to be present in court on the judgement day.

The verdict was delivered by a special court at the Parapanna Agrahara central jail. The police turned the jail into a virtual fortress and no one were allowed to be present in around one km near the central jail as part of unprecedented security measures.

Considering the huge Tamil population in Bangalore, around 5,000 security personnel were deployed to maintain peace.

The Karnataka government wanted to avoid a February 2000 kind of incident, where three people were burnt alive in by AIADMK activists after a special court sentenced Jayalalithaa to one year’s imprisonment.
