India to play 5-ODIs against Sri Lanka after Windies call-off tour

In an erratic series of development, the West Indies tour of India came down to a bad point where the visitors decided abandon the series, owing to an internal matter.

With utterly confusing statements, the BCCI said that the West Indies will be flying back home after the last match at Dharmashala and will be filing a complaint on the same to BCC.

The BCCI statement came after team manager Richie Richardson emailed that the players have refused to carry on, mainly because of salary issues that involves the board of West Indies.

A report in Hindustan Times quoted BCCI joint secretary Anurag Thakur.

“We (BCCI) will surely file a complaint with the ICC. I personally believe the BCCI should also decide on West Indies players’ participation in the IPL. If they had trouble with their board they shouldn’t have come to India. The board will also rethink on future tours and fixtures with West Indies,” he said.

However, BCCI- which is the richest cricket board in India, wasted no time and convinced the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC to send the team for 5-match ODI series, which will now start on November 1.

The SLC was quick to response, and the series will be an interesting one as the Indian team is placed 3rd in the ODI rankings, while Sri Lanka is at number 4.

The venues and fixtures details are yet to be announced.

In the meanwhile, The West Indies board also apologized to the Indian board and has also given their sorry to broadcasters, fans and sponsors.
