Stimulus Check Nov Update: Colorado, Hawaii, South Carolina, Illinois Residents Check IF You Are Eligible

The latest round of stimulus checks and payments will be delivered to households this week, with millions of Americans eligible for the support.

California has started issuing its Middle-Class Tax Refund, with payments of up to $1,050 due to land in bank accounts this week. Thousands more recipients will receive checks in the mail over the next few weeks.

According to the Treasury Department, around 9 million Americans have been sent letters indicating they might be eligible.

The Internal Revenue Service said the letters were “sent to people who appear to qualify for the child tax credit, recovery rebate credit, or earned income tax credit but haven’t yet filed a 2021 return to claim them.”

The stimulus payment, formally known as the recovery rebate credit, is $1,400.

Around 1.75 million New Yorkers are expecting to receive checks by October 31, according to officials.

Most eligible residents in Alaska should have received their stimulus payments, as direct debit payments were issued on September 20. Checks began to be mailed out on October 6.

In Hawaii, residents who filed their state income tax returns by July 31 should have received their direct debit payments in September. Those who requested paper checks should have them by October 31.

Residents filing their 2021 return from August 1 to December 31 should expect to receive their payment up to 12 weeks after filing.

Colorado residents who requested a filing extension should expect their check by January 31, 2023.

Illinois started issuing its rebates on September 12, but the state Department of Revenue warned that it could take “several months” to give them all.

In Rhode Island, the distribution of checks for the child tax rebate began on October 3. Taxpayers who have an extension for filing their 2021 state tax returns should receive their refunds in December.

South Carolina residents who filed their 2021 taxes before the October 17 deadline should begin to receive their checks before December 31. Virginians are expected to receive their rebates before the end of October.

From December 2021 to September 2022, the Internal Revenue Service issued almost 217 million payments totaling $93.5 billion. However, 3.3 million payments, totaling more than $1.1 billion, were incorrectly sent to 1.5 million ineligible taxpayers.

If you still haven’t received a stimulus letter and were expecting one, you should check that the mailing information you have provided to the government is up to date.

The IRS recommends that you call or inform the agency at a local office. You can also notify the IRS of the address change via a mailed written statement.
