The city of San Francisco, California, will offer the money to select groups, including transgender residents.

A PROGRAM for monthly payments in the thousands has launched – qualifying Americans can act for a limited time to claim their money.

Those who patriciate in the Guaranteed Income for Trans People program will get $1,200 in monthly direct payments.

The universal basic income (UBI) initiative, which will last for 18 months, is being run in partnership with the city, medical and mental health provider Lyon-Martin Community Health Services, and the nonprofit Transgender District.

“Guaranteed Income for Transgender People (G.I.F.T.) will provide economically marginalized transgender people with unrestricted, monthly guaranteed income as a way to combat poverty our most impacted community members face,” officials running the program said.
