This is due to a crucial clause in the American Rescue Act Plan, which President Joe Biden signed in March 2021 and made it possible for qualified taxpayers to receive around $10,200 in tax-free stimulus benefits from unemployment.
However, the bulk of Americans had already submitted their 2020 tax returns, which were for the year in which the unemployment rate peaked at 14.7 percent.
Therefore, the IRS reviewed their returns and has just finished the procedure. The organization is currently giving 12 million returns totaling $14.8 billion. Usually, refunds are given out in fewer than 21 days.

The county council’s vote last year to allot a total of $2.2 million for the program made the guaranteed income trial program possible.
The program only accepts applicants whose income is at or less than 200 percent of the federal poverty threshold. An official from Rochester confirmed to The Center Square that starting in early 2023, a separate group of residents of 175 people will get $500 payouts, reports Sun.
