South Carolina Stimulus Check Update: Days Left To Claim $800, Check if you are eligible

It’s safe to assume that 2022 was a challenging year for many individuals. Inflation is primarily to blame for that. The fact that the federal government did little to offer assistance in the form of stimulus payments in 2022 only made problems worse.

To be fair, it’s possible that widespread stimulus checks made the inflation problem worse rather than better. However, many individuals were still left to ponder why no aid was provided when living expenses were spiraling out of hand.

Deadline For Stimulus Check

Residents of South Carolina have less than a month left to submit their 2021 taxes and be eligible for a first-quarter rebate of up to $800. The amount of the refund that applicants will get will be determined by their tax burden, which the agency defines as the sum of state income taxes that a South Carolina citizen owes for the 2021 tax year.

As stated by the South Carolina Department of Revenue, if a resident’s tax liability is much less than $800, the refund amount will be equivalent to the tax liability, and anybody whose tax liability is more prominent than $800 will be reimbursed precisely $800.

Eligibility For Tax Rebate

The department’s prior cutoff date was October 17, 2022. Refunds were issued before the end of the previous year to those who submitted their 2021 taxes by that date.

All South Carolina citizens who submitted their 2021 taxes by February 15 are eligible for this tax rebate. The winners will then get the rebate amounts in March.

If a resident has an unpaid individual taxes bill with the department, they may not recover the total amount of their tax liability through this rebate. This outstanding sum would reduce the rebate amount a recipient would get, reports Washington Examiner.
