Sethupathi gets a warning from Supreme Court

South star Vijay Sethupathi, who is basking in glory after his success of OTT Hindi debut “Farzi’ starring Shahid Kapoor got a piece of mind from the Supreme Court on February 14, 2023.

The Indian Supreme Court warned the actor over a case and asked him to resolve the issue through mediation. Maha Gandhi filed a criminal case against Vijay Sethupathi and his manager, alleging that they defamed him during their press meet at Bengaluru airport in 2021 when both were involved in a brawl.

Sethupathi had approached the court seeking a quashing of the case, and the bench comprising Justices Dinesh Maheshwari and Justice PV Sanjay Kumar warned Vijay Sethupathi, “You are a theatre person, your voice matters, it imprints on the public. If you are an actor with a wide following, then you are supposed to be more disciplined. As a responsible person, you are not supposed to call names”,

“This is not that kind of litigation where ego should be allowed to expand beyond a point…this can be taken to a peaceful end while maintaining self-esteem. Work out some settlement”, “There is some fault on both parties’ side. Both of you are not free from blemish completely. But try to work out a settlement”.
