Infosys head Mohit Joshi has resigned from the company to join Tech Mahindra. On 11th March 2023, Tech Mahindra announced the appointment of Joshi as the company’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer.
The former Infosys president is set to also enjoy the status of Key Managerial Personnel for five years, from 20th December 2023 till 19th December 2028.
Who is Mohit Joshi?
The newly appointed CEO of Tech Mahindra has a stellar resume which does not only include his position at Infosys.
After completing his schooling at Delhi Public School, he pursued graduation in history from St. Stephens college under Delhi University. In addition to getting an MBA from the Faculty of Management Studies, he is also an alumnus of Harvard Kennedy School in the US, where he studied global leadership and public policy.
Before joining Infosys, he worked with some corporate giants such as ANZ Grindlays and ABN Amro Bank.
In 2014 he was recognized as the Young Global Leader at the World Economic Forumn(WEF).
Whose position will the former Infosys president be taking?
Joshi will replace C P Gurnani, who will retire on 19th December 2023. He will join the company well before that for a smooth transition process.
Gurnani remains a prominent figure in the Indian IT industry as one of the longest-serving chief executive officers. Soon after joining Tech Mahindra, he led the takeover and, later, the merger of Satyam Computers with the company.
After a rigorous selection process, Gurnani was appointed as the MD and CEO of Tech Mahindra in June 2009, beating out several internal as well as external candidates.
Joshi’s departure marked the loss of another valuable associate of Infosys within a few months. The former Infosys President and COO Ravi Kumar S left in October 2022 to Join as President in Cognizant.
