Due to an unexpected failure in the critical radar system, SpaceX has called off their plan to launch a deep space observatory and the revolutionary attempt to land its Falcon 9 rocket on a floating barge in the Atlantic on February 8, 2015.
As per reports, the Company halted the countdown at the 150 second mark, when they loss control over the Air Force radar system which tracks the rocket in flight.
Elon Musk, the Chief Executive officer of the Company told that they will continue their attempt on Monday, February 9, 2015. As per Elon, the delay which happened might be for the best outcome.
In this mission, the Company launches a deep space observatory that will shoot to a spot 1 million miles away from the Earth to monitor solar outbursts.
Along with this mission, the company will try to land the leftover booster on an ocean platform. This mission is considered to be a milestone in SpaceX’s plan to eventually reuse rockets.
Musk wishes to reuse his rockets to cut down costs and speed up flights. Last month, SpaceX’s effort to land the used rocket ended in flames last month.
The concept of Deep Space Climate Observatory was first conceived by Gore in the late 1990’s when he was the Vice President.
The veteran arrived at the Cape Canaveral during the time of launch, and he told the reporters that he is thankful to scientists and other researchers who kept his dream alive.
He added that the measurements will help to measure global warming, and it will play a crucial role to protect the future of human civilization.
