Ford recalled over 1.5 million cars in the United States in two operations to repair leaking brake hoses and potentially damaged windscreen wiper arms. The company reports revealed on Friday, March 17, show issues with the front brake hoses of the cars.
Almost 1.3 million Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKX midsize automobiles from 2013 to 2018 are included in the larger of the two recalls, as per Business Standard,
The problem that was detected
A design issue that potentially resulted in a collision has led to the recall of 1.2 million Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ vehicles. The problems from the crash are that a brake fluid leak could be brought on by the front brake hose rupturing. A brake fluid warning light may be visible to drivers. Also, it could alter how the brake pedal feels and lengthen the time it takes for the car to stop.
According to the corporation, it did not thoroughly test the design, so such issues arose.
How are the issues going to be resolved?
Dealers will change the hoses. Beginning on April 17, Ford will mail owner notice letters. Once the necessary components are ready, they will receive a second letter. Ford claims to be aware of a single accident involving the issue, but no injuries were reported.
The second recall affects more than 222,000 F-150 pickups manufactured after 2021, where the windshield wiper arms are prone to breaking. If necessary, dealers will swap out the arms. The owners will be informed beginning on March 27.
