Moore’s death

The Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation released a statement announcing Moore passed away peacefully at his home in Hawaii while surrounded by family.

As per a Zee News report, Apple CEO Tim Cook shared his condolences on Twitter, saying that Gordon Moore was one of Silicon Valley’s founding fathers and a great visionary who helped pave the way for the technological revolution. In his death, the world lost an innovation giant. He felt indebted to him.

Who is Gordon Moore

Gordon E. Moore, a co-founder and former chairman of Intel Corporation, the California-based semiconductor chip manufacturer that contributed to Silicon Valley’s moniker, attained the same level of industrial supremacy formerly enjoyed by the massive American railroad or steel giants of bygone eras.

This inspiring engineer created a precedent that would benefit several entrepreneurs and investors, along with the help of his Fairchild Semiconductor and, eventually, Intel coworkers. In addition, Mr. Moore fostered philanthropy by using his shares in Intel to fund a foundation that now oversees more than $9 billion in assets and has donated more than $5 billion since it was established.

Although Andy Grove and Robert Noyce, two of Intel’s co-founders, rose to prominence as management experts and industry politicians, the humble Mr. Moore seemed more focused on developing an environment at his firm that valued engineers and creativity than he was on demonstrating business leadership.

He received the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the National Medal of Technology. He was the sole survivor of a leadership trio at Intel, which remains the leading provider of computer calculation engines.
