Xiaomi launches Yi Action Camera

When Xiaomi made the global entry with their flagship smartphone, we were pretty sure that the entry may not just be spawning smartphones, but also some useful hardware alongside it.

We have seen some sounding jobs with their piston headset and power-banks. And now, the Chinese manufacturers are trying their luck with the new action camera called Yi.

Yi Action Camera from Xiaomi has been launched to lure exactly with that feature that has kept their smartphones catchy in the markets; the price factor.

Xiaomi launches Yi Action Camera

Yi Action Camera is launched at a price of 399 RMB, which takes its price in the global scales to around $65. But the reduced pricing doesn’t mean the device to have undergone any severe cuts with its performance.

With a 16MP resolution camera, the Yi Action Camera features an Ambarella A7LS image processor along with a Sony Exmor R BSI CMOS image sensor, which can record Full HD videos at 60fps.

The wide angle view is not as massive as you could get, but still offers up to 155 degrees of viewing angle with its limited size.

Being one among the most compact action cameras in the market, Yi measures just 72g in weight, far below than the entry-level variants from its rivals.

Although with such hefty hardware on its board, the Yi Action Camera doesn’t prove to be much handy when dealing with the extra accessories.

Being provided is only a selfie-stick, developed by Xiaomi, which can be availed along with the device for an extra payment of $15.

Xiaomi had always made their rivals envious whenever they step into the market. And now with its two digit price tag, they will be going into a direct foray with the ones from GoPro, at least among the entry-level action cams.

GoPro’s similar model Hero has its pricing fixed at almost double the price of Yi. And with a performance that can match up with the one from GoPro, Yi Action camera would certainly be the stuff for which the wait could be set forth.
