The Tales of Dunk and Egg are a series of three novellas written by George R.R. Martin, set in the same world as ‘Game of Thrones’, but about 90 years before the events of the main series.

The novellas chronicle the travels and exploits of Ser Duncan, a hedge knight who befriends a young boy named Egg, who is secretly a Targaryen prince. Together, they witness and participate in various historical events that shape the Seven Kingdoms.
