Ambedkar Jayanti Horror: Two Dead And Four Get Injured In Palghar

Officials reported on April 14, Friday, that after the Ambedkar Jayanti celebrations, two men were electrocuted, and four more suffered injuries while heading home in Palghar.

As per TV9, on Friday, the country is set to commemorate Babasaheb’s birth anniversary. Thus, on Thursday, the day before the birth anniversary, a demonstration was also held in Palghar, Maharashtra. The event drew a sizable crowd. At 10.30 p.m., the rally safely arrived at its intended location and concluded. 

After that, when individuals started to come back, a few of them were tangled by an exposed power line. As a result, two people were killed on the scene. The other victims include Asmit Kamble, Satyanarayan Pandit, Rohit Gaikwad, Rahul Jagtap, and Umesh Kanojia.

More Details Of The Incident

Around 11 p.m. on Thursday, the tragedy occurred in the Kargil Nagar neighbourhood of Virar town, following a vibrant march of the Bauddhjan Panchayat Samiti and other organisations to commemorate B.R. Ambedkar’s 132nd birthday, which is being honoured nationwide on Friday, April 14.

According to reports, an iron rod struck an electric transformer as the victims were standing atop a slowly moving car in the parade, giving them powerful electric shocks.

Roopesh Surve, 30, and Sumit Sut, 23, died immediately, while the others were taken to a hospital in Mumbai that was close by, where two of them appeared to be in serious condition.

The Palghar police are investigating the event, and more information is being sought as the tragedy has put a cloud of sorrow over the town.
