“Love Island,” star Liberty Poole, has opened up about her struggles with body image and how she used to edit her photos to the point where she didn’t recognize herself.
The 23-year-old, who shot to fame on the ITV2 dating show in 2021, said she felt the need to edit her photos to make herself look thinner and more attractive.
“I used to edit my photos so much that I didn’t even recognize myself,” she told MailOnline. “I would make my waist smaller, my legs longer, and my face thinner. I was so insecure about my body that I thought editing my photos was the only way to make myself feel better.”
Liberty said that her toxic habit of editing her photos started when she was a teenager and continued until she appeared on Love Island.
“I was always so self-conscious about my body and I thought that if I could just make myself look thinner, I would be happy,” she said. “But it didn’t work. I was still insecure and I still hated the way I looked.”
Liberty said that her appearance on Love Island was a turning point for her.
“Being on Love Island made me realize that I didn’t need to edit my photos to be beautiful,” she said. “I was surrounded by other beautiful women who didn’t edit their photos and I realized that I didn’t need to either.”
Liberty said that she is now much more confident in her body and no longer feels the need to edit her photos.
“I’m finally happy with the way I look and I don’t feel the need to change anything,” she said. “I want to encourage other women to embrace their bodies and to love themselves for who they are.”
Liberty’s story is a reminder that social media can be a dangerous place for young people. It can be easy to get caught up in the comparison game and to start believing that you need to look a certain way to be happy. However, it is important to remember that social media is not real life. The people you see on Instagram and TikTok have been carefully curated to make them look perfect. They don’t have the same insecurities and flaws that you do.
If you are struggling with body image issues, it is important to reach out for help. Talk to a trusted friend or family member, or seek professional help from a therapist or counselor. You are not alone and there is help available.
