The Damages

The Japanese media displayed images of Thai Airways and Taiwan’s Eva Airways aircraft on the airport ground. As per CNN reports, there were what seemed to be shattered pieces of the Thai Airways plane’s wing visible close to the runway. In the shots, a representative was seen removing what appeared to be a piece of an airplane wing off the runway.

Thai Airways said that the rear of an Eva aircraft on a taxiway was struck by a winglet from a flight headed for Bangkok and was also on the taxiway getting ready to take off. The vertical protrusions on the tip of the wing, known as winglets, are used to lessen drag.

According to the airline, the impact broke the Thai plane’s winglet, making it impossible to fly.
