PM Modi to Lead Yoga Day Celebrations at UN HQ with People from Over 180 Nations

New Delhi, June 20 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead the celebrations of the 9th International Day of Yoga at the United Nations Headquarters in New York on June 21.

The event will be attended by people from over 180 countries, including diplomats, leaders, artists, key cultural figures, academicians and entrepreneurs.

The theme for this year’s Yoga Day is “Yoga for Humanity”.

The Prime Minister will address the gathering and deliver a message on the importance of yoga for the overall well-being of the individual and society.

Yoga Day was first celebrated in 2015 at the behest of Prime Minister Modi. The United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution in December 2014, declaring June 21 as the International Day of Yoga.

Since then, Yoga Day has been celebrated across the world as a day to promote the practice of yoga and its benefits for physical and mental health.

The event at the UN Headquarters will be the first time that the main Yoga Day ceremony will be held outside of India.

The Prime Minister’s visit to the United States is scheduled from June 20-24. He will hold talks with US President Joe Biden and other top US officials.

The Prime Minister is also expected to address a joint session of the US Congress. (ANI)
