Chennai: The recent assassination attempt on prominent Dalit leader Chandrashekhar Azad has been described by filmmaker and social activist Pa. Ranjith as a “caste crime.” Ranjith, known for his outspoken advocacy for Dalit rights, condemned the attack and called for swift action to bring the perpetrators to justice.
Chandrashekhar Azad, the founder of the Bhim Army, a Dalit rights organization, narrowly escaped a life-threatening attack on Sunday when unidentified assailants opened fire on his convoy in Uttar Pradesh. The incident left several of his supporters injured, and Azad himself narrowly escaped the hail of bullets.
