A 6.5-magnitude earthquake struck southern Mexico early on Friday and no injuries or property damage were reported, officials said.
The National Institute of Statistics said the earthquake occurred at 03:29 am (0929 GMT) local time, 140 km west of the city of Pijijiapan in the state of Chiapas, near the border with Guatemala.
The Chiapas civil defense agency said on Twitter that it had not received any reports of injuries or property damage.

The Earthquake was also felt in the neighboring state of Oaxaca, but there was no damage.
Mexico recorded strong seismic activity while located on the Pacific Ring of Fire, an arc that connects Japan to Southeast Asia and the entire Pacific basin.
In September 2017, a magnitude 7.1 earthquake killed 369 people, mostly in Mexico City.
An 8.1 magnitude earthquake in 1985 killed nearly 10,000 people.
