The USA’s women’s soccer match against the Netherlands was the most watched match of the World Cup team.
Fox Sports received record television attention during Wednesday night’s Women’s World Cup group stage.
USA drew 1-1 with Netherlands, averaging 6 points per game.
Fox’s 43 million viewers make it the most-watched USA Women’s World Cup team tournament (though it’s worth noting that this year’s game was the first to include outdoor viewing, according to Nielsen averages).
The previous record was 5.34 million viewers in America-Chile in 2019.
This year’s USA women’s soccer game came in third with 5.26 million viewers.saw nearly 197,000 viewers on Wednesday, the highest number ever for a group-level game on Fox.
Additionally, the Spanish broadcast on Telemundo and Universo averaged 1.17 million viewers for a total of 7.59 million viewers (excluding Telemundo’s live service on Peacock).
USA – Netherlands performance also ranks seventh in all competitions at the USA Women’s World Cup.
However, the third USWNT game doesn’t look like it will reach that height:
due to the large time difference between the USA and hosts Australia and New Zealand, the match is scheduled for 3 am ET on the morning of August 1/Pacific time to begin at midnight.
USWNT’s early return is a reflection of Fox Sports’ winning the 2022 Men’s World Cup as US men’s return to the game.
With an average of 11.71 million viewers, the USMNT team stage became the most watched program on English-language television, with a 10 percent increase in viewership compared to other countries.
