Bhubaneswar, July 29: Odia actress Sheetal Patra has accused filmmaker Dayanidhi Dahima of harassment. In a social media post, Patra alleged that Dahima groped and assaulted her at her college in front of other students and even tore her uniform. She also accused him of resorting to defamatory posts on social media to tarnish her image and reputation.
Patra said she had been silent about the incident for many years because she feared the consequences. However, she decided to speak out now because she could no longer live in fear. She urged other women who have been harassed to come forward and report their attackers.
Dahimi has denied the allegations, calling them “baseless” and “malicious.” He said that he will take legal action against Patra for defaming him.
The Laxmisagar police have registered a case and are investigating the matter.
Patra has also filed a complaint with the National Commission for Women (NCW) against Dahima in a separate development. The NCW has taken cognizance of the complaint and has asked the Laxmisagar police to submit a report.

The allegations against Dahima have sparked outrage on social media. Many people have come out in support of Patra and have demanded that Dahima be brought to justice.
This is not the first time that an Odia actress has been accused of harassment. In 2018, actress Archita Sahu accused filmmaker Niraj Mishra of sexual harassment. Mishra was arrested and later released on bail.
The allegations against Dahima and Mishra are a reminder of the pervasive problem of sexual harassment in the Odia film industry. It is important that these allegations are investigated thoroughly and that the perpetrators are brought to justice.
Patra’s courage in speaking out against her attacker is to be commended. She has shown that women will not be silenced and that they will not tolerate harassment. Her story is an inspiration to all women who have been victims of abuse.
