On Tuesday, the police in Bengaluru reported the arrest of three individuals, one of whom is a dance teacher, on charges of gang-raping a college student within the jurisdiction of Kodigehalli police station.
The arrested individuals, namely Andy George, a dance teacher at a private school, Santhosh, and Shashi, were involved in the heinous act.
The incident began when Andy befriended the victim through social media and later recorded private moments with her, using the footage to intimidate and threaten her.
As the victim grew suspicious and distanced herself, Andy resorted to blackmail, using the recorded material to rape her repeatedly.
Eventually, he invited his friends to his home, where they also assaulted the victim, and he further humiliated her by posting her pictures and videos on social media.
Police complaint
The victim mustered the courage to file a complaint with the police, leading to their prompt action and subsequent arrests.
The police have confiscated a mobile phone and a pen drive and are investigating the possibility of the prime accused, Andy, being involved in other similar cases.
According to police, the girl met the accused, George, through social media in 2021. The two started chatting, and eventually, George convinced the girl to meet him in person. When the girl met George, he took her to his friend’s house, where Santosh and Shashi were also present.
The three men then gang-raped the girl. The girl tried to resist, but the men overpowered her. After the rape, the men threatened the girl not to tell anyone about what had happened.
The girl eventually told her parents about the rape, and they filed a complaint with the police. The police arrested the three men on Wednesday.
The men have been charged with gang-rape, sexual assault, and criminal intimidation. They are currently in police custody.
The police have appealed to the public to come forward if they have any information about the case.
