A 25-year-old woman was allegedly stripped naked and beaten by her in-laws in Rajasthan’s Alwar district on Saturday, Sept 2, 2023. The woman’s husband and two other relatives have been arrested.
The incident took place in the Behror area of Alwar district. The woman, a Haryana resident, had married the accused man two years ago. She had been living with her in-laws in Alwar since then.
On Saturday, the woman’s husband and his relatives allegedly stripped her naked and beat her with sticks. They also threatened to kill her if she told anyone about the incident.
The woman managed to escape and reach her parents’ house in Haryana. She then filed a complaint with the police.
The police arrested the woman’s husband and two other relatives on Sunday. They have been charged with stripping and beating the woman and criminal intimidation.
CM Gehlot condemns the incident
Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has condemned the incident and assured that strict action will be taken against the accused.
“The incident is very unfortunate and condemnable. The guilty will not be spared,” Gehlot said in a tweet.
The incident has sparked outrage in the state. Several women’s rights organizations have demanded that the government take strict action against the accused.

The National Commission for Women (NCW) has also taken suo motu cognizance of the matter. The NCW has asked the Rajasthan police to submit a report on the incident within 24 hours.
The incident is a reminder of the plight of women in India. Despite laws against violence against women, such incidents continue to take place. It is important to raise awareness about these issues and ensure that women are safe from violence.
