Rain seems to have dampened the spirit of fans at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, with the 3rd T20 between India and South Africa currently on hold. The match is expected to start after another session of pitch inspection at 9.30 pm local time.
At least a five-5 over is possible
The final T20 between India and South Africa was supposed to start at 7 pm, but owing to excessive rains all through the afternoon, parts of the ground has been declared to be unplayable.
This game is more of dead rubber, with the visitors already clinching the series in the 2nd T20, where the Indian batting lineup came crashing down at 92.
If this match finally starts, skipper Dhoni would want to redeem his form and the team, especially the batting line.
India’s concerns are not merely with the bat alone. None of their bowlers have been effective, and given that the pitch favors batsmen, South African batsmen may seem tough nuts to crack.
The rains also delayed the toss, and at around 7 pm, skipper Dhoni and rest of the team were seen enjoying a session of football.
There were also certain questions on the management and ground caretaking at Eden gardens, as the shower was pretty less and unexpected. Despite the long delay, the ground is yet not ready to be played.
As for India, it needs to post a big score if they start first, and if the overs are limited, things may need some more push to get the right score.
