'Winnie the Pooh' Nightmare: Florida Teacher Exposes 4th Graders to Horror Film

Parents at a Florida elementary school are outraged after a fourth-grade teacher accidentally showed the class a horror film based on the classic children’s characters Winnie the Pooh and Piglet.

The film, “Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey,” is a slasher film depicting the beloved characters as bloodthirsty killers. It is rated Not Rated and contains graphic violence, gore, and nudity.

Teacher Apologizes, School Investigating

According to the parents, the teacher showed the film to the class during indoor lunch on Wednesday. The film was reportedly playing for about 20 minutes before the teacher realized what it was and turned it off.

One parent, Michelle Diaz, told CBS News Miami that her fourth-grade twins were left traumatized by the experience.

“They were crying and shaking,” Diaz said. “They said they couldn’t sleep that night because they were afraid.”

Parents Say Children Traumatized by Experience

Another parent, Melissa Barreio, said she is disgusted that the teacher would show such a film to young children.

“I don’t know if she was trying to be funny or what,” Barreio said. “But it’s not funny. It’s child abuse.”

The school district has apologized for the incident and is investigating how it happened.

“We take this matter very seriously,” the district said in a statement. “We are investigating the incident and will take appropriate disciplinary action.”

The teacher who showed the film has not been publicly identified. She has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
