The Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival (Jio MAMI) returned after a three-year pandemic-induced hiatus with a bang on October 27, 2023. The festival, which is one of the most prestigious film festivals in India, screened over 250 films from over 50 countries across 20 venues in Mumbai.
The opening night of the festival saw a galaxy of stars descend on the red carpet, including Priyanka Chopra, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Saif Ali Khan, and Kamal Haasan. Chopra, the chairperson of the Jio MAMI board, inaugurated the festival.
In her speech, Chopra emphasized the importance of film festivals in showcasing diverse stories and voices worldwide. She also spoke about creating a more inclusive and equitable film industry.
