Angelina Jolie has hit out at Israel’s air and ground invasion of Gaza, calling it “murder”.
Angelina Jolie has called Israeli airstrikes in Gaza “a deliberate bombing of a trapped population.” The actress, who is known for her humanitarian work around the world, posted a lengthy statement on Instagram on Wednesday alongside a photo of the devastation from the recent deadly airstrike on Gaza’s largest refugee camp, Jabalia. It also criticized Israel and its allies for rejecting persistent calls for a ceasefire from around the world.
In the caption of her latest Instagram post, Angelina began by writing: “This is a deliberate bombing of a trapped population with nowhere to run. Gaza has been an open-air prison for almost two decades and is fast becoming a mass grave. 40 percent of those killed are innocent children. Entire families are slaughtered.”
Angelina criticizes leaders for giving Israel a free pass
Angelina then addressed the international community, condemning the unfolding atrocities against “millions of Palestinian civilians”. She wrote: “While the world watches and with the active support of many governments, millions of Palestinian civilians – children, women, families – are collectively punished and dehumanized, all while being denied food, medicine and humanitarian aid against international law. World leaders who refuse to call for a humanitarian ceasefire and prevent the UN Security Council from imposing it on both sides are complicit in these crimes.”
Angelina shares details about the Jabalia refugee camp
The actor shared a picture of Jabalia ravaged by an Israeli airstrike, followed by a brief description of the refugee camp from UNRWA, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees. It read: “The Jabalia refugee camp is the largest of the eight refugee camps in the Gaza Strip. After the 1948 war, refugees settled in thehttps://www.instagram.com/p/Cy9SyvpyV0p/?igshid=NjFhOGMzYTE3ZQ== camp, most of whom fled villages in southern Palestine. The camp covers an area of only 1.4 square kilometers. In Jabalia camp alone, 116,011 Palestinian refugees are registered with UNRWA, 75 years since the 1948 conflict.
In an earlier post, Angelina said terror attacks by Hamas in Israel “cannot justify the innocent lives lost” in Gaza. Many celebrities such as Gal Gadot, Justin Bieber, Swara Bhasker and Dwayne Johnson also took to social media to share their views on the events of October 7, when armed conflict broke out between Palestinian militant groups led by Hamas and the Israeli army . . The attack began with a coordinated surprise attack by Hamas through Israeli cities. Israel officially declared war on Hamas after the attack.
