After firing Sam Altman from the post of CEO of OpenAl, an interim CEO is appointed. Mira Murati is chosen as the interim CEO of OpenAl.

A review stated that CEO Sam Altman was not consistent with his communications with the board members which led to his disposal. The board said that they don’t have any confidence in his ability to lead OpenAl.

At 34 years old, she is now serving as an acting CEO of OpenAI having been previously the CTO of the company. Some people call her the creative genius behind incredible products like DALL-E and ChatGPT created by OpenAI.

His parents are originally from Albania where he was born and raised. When she turned sixteen, she moved to Canada in order to attend Pearson College UWC.

Then she proceeded to study mechanical engineering at Dartmouth College, an Ivy League institution in America. It was during her undergraduate years when she came up with a hybrid race car for her senior project, according to New York Times.

Mira Murati’s Professional life 

She started off as an intern at Zodiac Aerospace before moving on to Goldman Sachs. After that, she spent three years working on Model X at Tesla.

According to TechCrunch, in 2016 Murati became Leap Motion’s Vice President of Product and Engineering, a sensor-building start-up. Then after two years, she left Leap Motion to join OpenAI as VP Partnerships & Applied AI.

“I have had the opportunity to work on applications of AI in my time at Tesla and Leap Motion, a company specializing in reality. In an interview with Wired, in July 2023 Murati expressed her belief that AGI (Artificial General Intelligence) would be the most impactful technological advancement we will create and she aspired to be deeply involved in its development.”

When Murati became a part of OpenAI in 2018 her initial assignment involved supercomputing. In 2022 she was promoted to the position of technology officer.

According to Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, “Murati possesses a proven capability to gather teams, with expertise in business judgment and a profound understanding of the mission’s significance. As a result Mira has played a role in advancing cutting edge AI technologies up until now.”
