Lady Luck Strikes! Woman Hits Royal Flush Jackpot, Becomes Instant Millionaire at Gatineau Casino

A lucky night at the casino: Ashley Sandra Ghavami's royal flush story

A rare royal flush in spades made Ashley Sandra Ghavami a millionaire last week. The lucky woman was playing three-card poker at the Casino du Lac-Leamy in Gatineau on Dec. 28 when she hit the jackpot of $1,089,277.

The casino announced the news in a statement, saying that Ghavami was ecstatic when she saw her winning hand. “She couldn’t help but jump for joy when she realized she had the right combination,” the statement said.

Ghavami won the ‘four casino progressive jackpot,’ a special prize that is shared among four Loto-Québec casinos. Players of 3-card poker and Ultimate Texas Hold’em can opt to join the jackpot pool by placing an extra bet of at least $5. The jackpot grows until someone wins it all.

Ghavami said she plans to use her winnings to treat her loved ones. She is the second person to win the four casino progressive jackpot this year, after a man from Montreal won $1,669,442 in July.
