Sebastian Vettel on course to win Fourth successive title after Japanese Grand Prix win

Racing driver, Sebastian Vettel’s Formula One title of 2013 is now just a mere formality, after his win in the Japanese Grand Prix on Sunday, Oct 13.

This will be his fourth title in succession and the 26-year-old German would become the youngest quadruple champion of the sport.

Vettel’s next race is in Buddh Circuit, India next week and he is clearly 90 points ahead of Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso.

Alonso happens to be the only man still in contention with four races remaining. A fifth place finish at the Buddh Circuit in India is sure enough to give Vettel the title and he does not need another point if Alonso fails to come in first or second place.

Vettel won the last five races and is on the road to finishing the season with nine successive wins, a feat only managed Italian driver Alberto Ascari with Ferrari in 1952-53.

Red Bull principal Christian Horner told reporters that the target is to try to carry the winning momentum into the last four races and they didn’t even imagine that the run of success that Vettel had.

Vettel is the sixth driver having five successive wins, the recent one being Michael Schumacher of Ferrari in 2004. Schumacher went on to win seven championships in a row and holds the record of 13 wins in a season.
