Two days after the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) announced its first list of candidates for the Lok Sabha elections, a “fake” video of Upendra Singh Rawat has surfaced on social media.

A day after the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) announced its first list of candidates for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, an incumbent MP and election candidate was hit by poor filmmaking.

BJP MP Upendra Singh Rawat’s ‘fake’ video from Barabanki from the Uttar Pradesh seat posted on social media went viral and his team filed an FIR regarding the issue. Kotwali police station inspector Aditya Tripathi said that a complaint has been filed against an unknown accused in this case.

FIR was accused of changing MP and an objectionable video was released with the aim of damaging his reputation. It was announced that the photo behind him was a BJP candidate. Police sources told the Press Trust that video posted online showed a man and woman committing a violent act.

The news agency added that the person seen in the images was said to be Upendra Singh Rawat. The MP said as soon as “I got the party’s ticket from Barabanki, my opponents did this act”, claiming that the video is completely doctored.
