IPL 2024: Shreyas Iyer recreates Lionel Messi’s iconic FIFA World Cup celebration as he hands the IPL trophy to the KKR team. KKR beat SRH by eight wickets and became IPL champions for the third time in the league’s history.
Shreyas Lyer recreated Lionel Messi’s iconic FIFA World Cup celebrations. Shreyas Iyer’s team created history by beating SRH by eight wickets in the IPL 2024 final at the M Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk.
KKR Won IPL 2024
After KKR’s impressive victory, Iyer received the IPL trophy from BCCI president Roger Binny and BCCI secretary Jay Shah. When Argentina won the World Cup in 2022, Iyer made a splash by covering Messi’s signing ceremony. Messi led Argentina to the title in December 2022 after Qatar’s victory against France.
Shreyas Iyer and Co. recreated this victory moment, and the team joined the celebration. This is the third time in KKR’s history that they have won the tournament. In fact, KKR’s first IPL win was also achieved at the Chepauk Stadium in 2012, when Gautam Gambhir was the captain.

Shreyas Iyer KKR played incredible
TimesNow reported, speaking after the match to broadcasters, Iyer said, “It is pleasing, and the performance has been flawless throughout. I am running out of words right now. We have been tremendous right from game one, and when we stepped [out],, all we demanded from ourselves was to back each other no matter the situation. The game could have gone either way. They have been playing phenomenal cricket, SRH, throughout the season.”
In the Finale, SRH chose to bat first and were bowled out for a paltry 113 runs. KKR chased a target of 114 runs in 11 overs to lift the coveted IPL trophy.
