The Karnataka BJP Core Committee is gearing up for crucial bypolls in three Assembly constituencies: Shiggaon, Channapatna, and Sandur. These seats became vacant after three MLAs were elected as Members of Parliament.
State BJP chief BY Vijayendra expressed confidence in securing victories across all three constituencies. Taking a swipe at Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, who ruled out any family member contesting from Channapatna, Vijayendra emphasized that the focus lies on the battle between the BJP and JDS, reported MSN.com.
The party’s strategy involves meticulous planning. The BJP state executive meeting is scheduled for July 4 or 5 in Bengaluru. Simultaneously, the core committee will deliberate on the bypolls, including the constituencies represented by HD Kumaraswamy (Channapatna), Basavaraj Bommai (Shiggaon), and E Tukaram (Sandur). An MLC seat from Dakshina Kannada (Local Body), currently held by Kota Srinivas Poojari, is also up for consideration.
The party has formed a committee tasked with conducting surveys in these four segments to identify potential candidates. While seeking input from Kumaraswamy for the Channapatna seat, the question remains: Will the chosen candidate hail from the BJP or JDS?
Vijayendra further commented on the political landscape, hinting at the uncertainty surrounding Siddaramaiah’s tenure as chief minister. “They wanted to finish DK Shivakumar, so they took up the issue of more DCM posts. Now there is a demand for a change of CM,” he said.
