Former President Donald Trump spoke at the cryptocurrency industry’s largest gathering in Nashville, Tennessee at the Bitcoin Conference. He wholeheartedly embraced its hype and expectations despite his previous criticisms regarding the industry.

Trump’s Promises to the Crypto Industry

Former President Donald Trump outlined his ambitions to fully embrace cryptocurrency if he gets elected for the second term. He told the enthusiastic audience that he wants the United States to become a “Bitcoin superpower” under his leadership.

He vowed to make the United States the “crypto capital of the planet” and to establish a bitcoin “strategic reserve” using the money that the government presently possesses.

Trump also promised to create a Crypto Advisory Council and dismiss Securities and Exchange Commission Chair Gary Gensler if elected.

“If we don’t do it, China and others are going to be doing to be doing it. Let’s do it and do it right. If crypto is going to define the future, I want it to be mined, minted and made in the USA,” the Republican Presidential Nominee said in his speech.

Other Speakers at the Conference

Other major speakers at the conference were Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who is also a candidate for the Presidential run, and Marsha Blackburn and Bill Hagerty, the US Senators from Tenessee. Besides them, a range of other executives and influencers prominent in the community of Bitcoin were also present who added diversity and influence to the event.

Trump’s Previous Take on Bitcoin

Trump’s attitude on cryptocurrency has shifted dramatically over time. In 2019, he declared Bitcoin “not money” and criticized it as “highly volatile and based on thin air” on Twitter.
