The women’s USA 4×100 relay team comprises Melissa Jefferson, Twanisha Terry, Gabrielle Thomas, and Sha’Carri Richardson.

Sha’Carri Richardson showed her impressive performance at the 2024 Olympics on Thursday. She won the first qualifying heat for the United States women’s 4×100-meter relay. The US was in second position behind Germany until Richardson, serving as anchor, received the baton from Gabby Thomas and raced to cross the finish line first in 41.94 seconds.

Midway through the race, Thomas nearly missed the baton handover from Twanisha Terry in the third leg. Thomas started early and had to slow down to collect Terry’s handoff. This resulted in Thomas posting the fifth-fastest time during her leg (10.59 seconds), allowing Germany to take first place.

The US had the fastest team time in the two qualifying heats. Great Britain won the second heat in 42.03 seconds.

The GB team of Bianca Williams, Imani-Lara Lansiquot, Amy Hunt, and Desiree Henry have faced a few difficulties in this event. However, they won comfortably in the second heat. With flawless handovers, the team posted 42.03.

Other qualifiers

France battled hard for second place in 42.13, while Jamaica, the reigning champions, finished third in 42.35. The top three from each team will compete in today’s finals.

The final will occur at Stade de France on Friday, August 9 at 1:30 1:30 pmnd 11 pm11 pm
