Colorado Offers Payments To Vulnerable Residents

As winter approaches, the Colorado Department of Revenue has announced a substantial financial relief initiative to support the elderly, disabled, and low-income households. Eligible residents can claim a $1600 stimulus check to help cover heating and other essential expenses during the colder months.

The Property Tax, Rent, Heat (PTC) Rebate program, which has been relieving Coloradans since 2019, is now enhanced to include a substantial stimulus check.

Eligibility and Application Process

To qualify for the $1600 stimulus check, applicants must meet specific criteria:

  • Be a full-year Colorado resident.
  • Be 65 or older, a surviving spouse aged 58 or older, or a disabled person of any age.
  • Have a total income of less than $18,026 for single filers or $24,345 for married couples filing jointly1.

State Officials’ Statements

Brendon Reese, Director of the Department of Revenue Division of Taxation, emphasized the importance of this initiative: “It’s crucial to support all Coloradans, especially those in underserved and underrepresented communities. We want Coloradans experiencing hardship to know that there are resources to help, and PTC rebates are one of them”.
