In his ten-year NFL career, Jameis Winston has started 80 games, but none since Week 3 of 2022. He is eager to return to the pilot’s seat on Sunday at Huntington Bank Field against the Baltimore Ravens.

Winston stated on Wednesday, “First of all, man, I’m thankful to have another chance to do what the Lord has called me to do in the NFL, and that’s to be a starting NFL quarterback.” I am incredibly thankful for this. I’m ready, and I’ll give it my all.

During Sunday’s 21-14 defeat to the Bengals, Deshaun Watson suffered a ruptured right Achilles tendon. He will miss the remainder of the season due to surgery on Friday. To play the Ravens (5-2), coach Kevin Stefanski selected Winston over Dorian Thompson-Robinson. Against the Bengals, Thompson-Robinson, a second-year player, started at number two and took Watson’s spot before exiting in the fourth quarter due to a middle finger injury on his throwing hand. He got his finger wrapped on Wednesday, doesn’t require surgery, and participated fully in practice. With recently signed Bailey Zappe as the emergency No. 3, he is anticipated to be the backup against the Ravens.
