BENGALURU: Karnataka Minister for Housing, Waqf, and Minority Welfare, B.Z. Zameer Ahmed Khan, arrived at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in Bengaluru on Monday, marking the conclusion of a high-profile tour of the Vijayanagara and Hubballi districts. The Minister, who was in Northern Karnataka to oversee several developmental initiatives and participate in the historic Hampi Utsav 2026, was received with a warm reception by senior party leaders and officials upon his touchdown in the state capital. A Warm Reception Leading the welcoming delegation at the airport was Janab Syed Azeem Peer Qadiri, the Chairman of Hubli Electricity Supply Company (HESCOM). Alongside him was Dr. H.M. Shakeel Nawaz, the AICC Minority Department In-charge for Telangana State, signaling the political significance of the Minister's recent outreach. The atmosphere at the terminal was one of camaraderie as supporters and officials greeted the Minister following his intensive multi-day schedule. Highlights of the Tour Minister Khan’s visit to the Vijayanagara district was primarily focused on the grand inauguration of the Hampi Utsav 2026. During the festivities, he also launched the "Hampi by Sky" helicopter service, aimed at boosting global tourism for the UNESCO World Heritage site. Beyond the cultural celebrations, the Minister addressed critical infrastructure needs: Housing Goals: In a district planning meeting, he set an ambitious target to construct 58,917 rural homes in Vijayanagara over the next five years. Slum Regularization: He issued strict directives to officials in Hosapete to fast-track e-khatas for slum residents on government land. Hubballi Outreach: His stop in Hubballi included interactions with local stakeholders and reviews of Minority Welfare department projects. Looking Ahead Taking to social media to share the update, Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and reiterated his commitment to the "speedy implementation" of the projects discussed during his tour. The successful completion of this tour is seen as a strategic move to strengthen the government's presence in Northern Karnataka, balancing cultural heritage with aggressive rural housing targets.
