Azharuddin’s Farmhouse Burgled After 132 Days of Silence

A farmhouse owned by former Indian cricket captain Mohammad Azharuddin was recently burgled and vandalized, according to Pune Rural Police.

The property, located in Tikona village near Pawna Dam, was found damaged and missing valuables after being unoccupied for several months. This incident is suspected to have taken place between March 8 and July 18.

Senior Police Inspector Dinesh Tayade confirmed the incident, stating:

“Former cricket team captain Mohammad Azharuddin’s farmhouse is located in Tikona village near Pawna Dam. His family visits the farmhouse for vacation. They visited here last on March 8. The theft has taken place between March 8 and July 18.”

The complaint, filed by Azharuddin’s personal assistant Mohammad Mujib Khan, reported that ₹50,000 in cash and a television set were stolen. Police also noted signs of deliberate damage inside the house, suggesting vandalism.

The break-in came to light when Sangeeta Bijlani, Azharuddin’s wife, visited the farmhouse and noticed the damage. A forensic team has since examined the site and recovered two suspected fingerprints.

“We are taking further action. The investigation is in primary stage,” Inspector Tayade added.

Police have registered a case under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including charges related to theft, trespassing, and mischief. CCTV footage and forensic evidence are being reviewed to identify the culprits.
