Daria Kasatkina Suffers Wardrobe Mishap During Wimbledon Defeat to Samsonova

Wardrobe Fail at Wimbledon! Kasatkina’s Match Interrupted Mid-Rally

Tennis fans were caught off guard this weekend when Aussie No. 16 seed Daria Kasatkina experienced a bizarre wardrobe malfunction during her straight-sets defeat against Russian opponent Liudmila Samsonova at Wimbledon 2025.

The incident unfolded mid-rally when one of Kasatkina’s earrings got tangled in her Adidas tee, forcing her to pause and untangle it while Samsonova seized the point. The moment quickly circulated online as an unexpected hiccup during an already tough match.

Samsonova, seeded 19th, cruised to victory with a dominant score of 6-2, 6-3, powered by her aggressive groundstrokes and rapid serve, which reportedly peaked at 170 mph.

“It was tough today. Her game suits grass so well,” Kasatkina admitted post-match. “Of course I could’ve done better, but credit to her, she didn’t give me anything for free.”

The match also saw two rain delays, adding to a chaotic afternoon on SW19’s lawns. Kasatkina, who recently obtained permanent residency in Australia, had shown early promise by trading breaks to reach 3-3 in the second set before Samsonova closed the match with a clinical service break.

Despite the loss, Kasatkina remains a fan favorite. Earlier in the week, she was spotted at Wimbledon alongside Olympic skater Natalia Zabiiako and actress Cate Blanchett.
