
HUBBALLI – In a daring midnight heist, unidentified miscreants broke into the well-known Ayodhya Upachar Hotel in Hubballi, decamping with ₹2.5 lakh in cash. The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Thursday, has sparked concerns regarding the safety of commercial establishments in the city’s business hubs.
The Incident
According to preliminary reports, the thieves gained entry into the premises by breaking through a secondary entrance after the hotel had closed for the day. Once inside, they targeted the cash counter and office area. The theft was discovered early in the morning when the staff arrived to open the restaurant for breakfast service.
Upon finding the cash drawer ransacked and the locks broken, the management immediately alerted the local police.
Police Investigation
The Hubballi police, along with a team of forensic experts and a canine unit, arrived at the spot shortly after the report. Officers have collected fingerprint samples and are currently scanning CCTV footage from the hotel and surrounding buildings to identify the suspects.
“We have registered a case and are investigating all angles. The culprits appear to have monitored the hotel’s closing routine before striking,” said a senior police official.
