Kejriwal leaving for Varanasi for filing nomination

Varanasi, where Kejriwal is pitted against Bharatiya janata Party’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi and Congress leader Ajai Rai will go to polls during the last phase of elections on May 12. Kejriwal is expected to reach there on Tuesday and will be staying till polling day.

In a press conference, AAP leaders Sanjay Singh and Manish Sisodia said that the Aam Aadmi Party is not going to take the support of Mukhtar Ansari’s Quami Ekta Dal and there hasn’t been any interaction or any meetings of AAP leaders and QED leaders yet.

Sanjay Singh also told reporters in a press conference that party chief Arvind Kejriwal’s nomination date is not yet finalised. He said that it can be filed on April 23 or 24.

The last date for filing of nomination in Varanasi is April 24 and the last date for withdrawal is April 28. Kejriwal is also expected to travel to the nearby Amethi constituency which will vote on May 7, seeking votes for Kumar Vishwas. He is contesting against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.

Currently Varanasi is headed by where veteran BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi, who was elected to the Lok Sabha in 2009.
