Maruti Suzuki India, the largest selling manufacturer in the country, is gearing up for the release of its new model ‘Ciaz’ in India in October, 2014.
Reports suggest that ‘Ciaz’ is already under production at the Manesar factory of the manufacturer, and the dealers are likely to take pre-booking orders in September.
‘Ciaz’ was unveiled at the Auto Expo 2014 in Greater Noida earlier and has been placed over the current model of SX4. The price range for the new model will start at Rs. 8 lakh with the highest variant priced at Rs. 11 lakhs.
In terms of competition, Maruti has launched ‘Ciaz’ in a segment where it has to compete with likes of Honda City, Hyundai Elite i20, Volkswagen Vento, Audi A3, Hyundai Verna, and Ford Fiesta.
The new model is being offered in three different variants namely Vxi/Vdi, followed by Vxi+/Vdi+ and Zxi/Zdi. Features include ‘AC vents with 5” display’, audio controls mounted on steering, climate controls, and ABS. special features also include reverse parking camera and electric OEVMs.
If the media reports turn out to be true, the color choices for ‘Ciaz’ will be more than many starting off from Midnight Black and Arctic White to Clear Beige, Silky Silver, Glistening Grey, and Fire Brick Red. A Chocolate Brown shade is also on offer.
‘Ciaz’ will take a roll in the market in both petrol and diesel. The 1.4l petrol engine of the model will generate 95 PS power coupled with 130 Nm torque, while the 1.3l DDiS diesel variant will have 90 PS of power and 200 Nm torque. The expected mileage for the petrol variant is 18.2 kmpl and for the diesel one is 22.4 kmpl.
