Shoaib Malik hosts Lahore Lions with Biryani at Sania Mirza’s place

It was not a perfect day for Lahore Lions on field, with the squad succumbing in their opening group stage match.

On the other hand, Shoaib Malik, who plays for of Hobart Hurricanes, has also been going through a bad patch after failing to generate much with the bat or ball.

But things were different off the field as they seemed to enjoy  a nice time at Indian tennis ace Sania Mirza’s place.

Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Malik on Sunday laid out a special Hyderabadi treat to the Lahore Lions squad, most of them who have shared the dressing room for the national squad with Malik.

The gathering was hosted at the in-laws’ house of the Pakistani cricketer, though in the absence of the Sania Mirza, the hometown girl and wife of Shoaib Malik.

The entire squad was treated with the tastes of Hyderabad Biryani and other tidbits, and proved to be the only consolation after a disappointing weekend.

Meanwhile on Monday, the Lahore Lions’ bowler Adnan Rasool was reported for a suspected illegal bowling action.

The BCCI issued a statement on Monday, “Under the CLT20 Suspected Illegal Bowling Action policy, Rasool may request an Official Assessment from the BCCI Suspect Bowling Action Committee.”

“Rasool has been placed on the warning list and may continue to be selected to play and bowl for his team in a match.”

Lahore Lions who entered the group stage matches with an undefeated run had to surrender to the Kolkata Knight Riders in a match that took place at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

The venue also hosted the encounter between Hobart Hurricanes and Cape Cobras that saw the former clinching the victory to keep their chances alive in the tournament.

Though the Australian side ended the game with a needy win, thanks to AC Blizzard for the blistering 78 not out, the match was a concern for the Pakistani all-rounder who could hot only 8 runs.

Malik also failed to be productive with the ball as his figures ended 2-0-15-0.

While the 32 year was having problems on the field, his better half had a great time after teaming up with Cara Black and winning the women’s doubles title at the WTA Toray Pacific Open on Saturday.
