September 22, 2014: The controversy surrounding Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone and a popular Indian daily just got bigger.
Reportedly, Indian news website Times of India had released a collection of images on September 13, 2014, which was titled as “OMG: Deepika Padukone’s Cleavage Show”.
The “Finding Fanny” actress not only tweeted a screenshot of the same, and wrote, “YES!I am a Woman.I have breasts AND a cleavage! You got a problem!!??”
She further had written, “Dont talk about Woman’s Empowerment when YOU don’t know how to RESPECT Women!”
All these lead to a huge blame game, with many of the actress and Industry people coming openly in support of Deepika and slammed the publication.
Deepika, also wrote a fully fledged letter on her Facebook page, and said the entire matter had hurt her.
Interestingly, Times of India had just one Tweet on the case after September 13 that said, “It’s a compliment! U look so great that we want to make sure everyone knew! :)”, which was bashed left and right by one and all.
TOI's response to @deepikapadukone clearly indicates they aren't just crass, they are also idiots. Shame on them! pic.twitter.com/2fHn4zAELE

Now Times of India has given its own Point of View in a piece that has been published today.
Excerpts from the piece,
“Despite having made your point on Twitter, you have chosen to re-tweet every message and given as many interviews as you could. This has obviously been great publicity for you, timed perfectly with the release of your new film. The video’s been on YouTube for a year, why object now?”
This news has surely again stirred the controversy that seemed to have silent. With Deepika in US for the “Happy New Year” SLAM tour, we wonder what she has to say on this.
Deepika had again tweeted,
”Yes we marvel, envy and drool over a male actors 8pack abs in a film, but do we zoom in on the mans ‘crotch’ when he makes a public appearance and make that ‘cheap headlines’??!!”
To this the TOI replied!
“Deepika, just for the record, we do not zoom into a woman’s vagina or show her nipples. As a newspaper, we take every care to ensure that we pixelate them if they show up in a picture, but your cleavage is as sexy as Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘8-pack’ abs. Given the nature of the online media worldwide, there could well have been a story headlined, “OMG…Shah Rukh’s 8-pack sexy abs!!!””
